From the Chair's Desk....
It continues to be an exciting time for the CSD program. We are in the process of revamping our undergraduate and graduate curricula. One important aspect of our proposed changes is the addition of seminars designed to enhance independent thinking skills and promote meaningful dialogue between students and faculty. Zoe Westin, one of our graduate students, applied and was accepted to attend the highly prestigious program in Vocology at the University of Utah during the summer of 2017. Way to go Zoe.
We are so proud of our seniors who have gotten into graduate school and there are still others waiting to hear! We are especially thrilled that our students are getting into the top programs in the country including U of Washington (Seattle), Northwestern University, Boston University and Massachusetts General Hospital.
I want to welcome Armida Geiger to our Department. Armida is joining us as the Assistant to the Chair and as the Administrator for the CSD Research Program. Stop by and say hello if you have not had the pleasure of meeting her yet.
Did you know our clinic is growing? We are beginning to see more clients on campus. Professor Amy Plante is working with me to develop an Apraxia of Speech Resource Center, Professor Amy Ramage is developing a clinical research program in aphasia and we have started helping people who are undergoing transgender transition. Moreover, we have some exciting developments on the horizon that I will announce as they mature.
I have initiated regular Chair meetings with our undergraduate students and they are going so well that I will continue them each semester.
That’s it for now!!! If you are around and want to drop by and say hello, eat some candy and/or listen to some tunes, please do so.
