Sport Studies is an interdisciplinary option in the Department of Kinesiology that provides a foundation for careers in school and college athletics, including coaching, administration, marketing, and sports information. The program also prepares majors for further graduate study in areas such as sport law or sport psychology. Some Sport Studies courses are appropriate for students with career interests in other segments of the sport industry – e.g., pro leagues, sporting goods, media – but those students must major in another discipline, such as business, journalism, or communication, and pursue a second major or a minor in KIN.
Professor Steve Hardy delivers 2011 Brierley Presentation on College Teaching. Professor Brierley established an endowed fund in 1973 to recognize teaching in any field or discipline at the University of New Hampshire. This fund was completed upon her death as a tribute to those members of the UNH faculty who have distinguished themselves as teachers. One award is rendered each academic year as our highest level recognition for excellence in teaching. In conjunction with the UNH Center for Teaching Excellence, recipients host an annual event to advance the teaching mission of the university. Photo by UNH Photographic Services
