December 2014 HDFS graduate & CSDC Teaching Assistant Meghann Hickey has been hired as a policy associate
December 2014 HDFS graduate Meghann Hickey has been hired as a policy associate by the Early Care and Education Consortium (ECEC) located in Washington, D.C. Meghann, who minored in Education and Deaf Studies, interned with the ECEC in the summer of 2014.
The Early Care and Education Consortium is a non-profit alliance of America's leading providers of quality early learning programs. Consortium members operate more than 8,200 licensed centers in every state, caring for and educating over one million children every day across the country. The ECEC is an advocacy voice for child care providers as policies for child care and early learning develop and change across the country.
The Executive Director of the ECEC, M.A. Lucas, is also an alumna of the UNH Department of Human Development and Family Studies. Before she came to the ECEC, Lucas served as the Executive Director of the United States Army Child, Youth & School Services Program, where she created a system of facility and home based early care and education options, year round school age and youth outreach programs, and school transition/support services for K-12 Army affiliated students delivered to more than 468,000 children ages 4 weeks-18 years at 124 locations around the world. Under her leadership, the Army also delivered child care and pre-K services to geographically dispersed Army children through Army affiliated off post partnerships with independent community based providers.
