HPE student Brendan Murphy attends Student Leadership Conference
HPE student Brendan Murphy attends Student Leadership Conference in Pennsylvania. Read Brendan’s account of this weekend:
Last weekend I attended the Pennsylvania State Association of Health Physical Education Recreation and Dance (PSAHPERD) Student Leadership Conference in Stroudsburg, PA. It was an awesome experience as we focused the weekend on team building activities, professional development, and plenty of fun! There were representatives from schools such as Lock Haven University, Penn State, East Stroudsburg University, and West Chester University from PA. Outside of the hosting state was Salisbury University, Rhode Island College, University of Rhode Island, University of New Hampshire (obviously), and Towson University.
A lot of professional members of PSAHPERD presented on different things from leadership, to personality types and behaviors a person may express, and even how to better a professional career outside the classroom/gymnasium. PSAHPERD President elect Colleen Weigmont, Eastern District Executive Director Carol Ciotta, and even SHAPE America's president Frank Cleland were all in attendance (plus more!). I had great opportunities to talk to all of them, as well as network with my peers, whom I hope to see at the SHAPE America conference in March!
I am thankful for this opportunity to represent UNH!
