CHHS hosted a Research Celebration for faculty and staff on February 5
There was great representation from our Departments and Institutes, and we heard from three speakers about the utility of research in health and human services.
Former CHHS Dean Jim McCarthy reflected on his 'lessons learned' regarding research challenges and opportunities and the implications for future health and human service research.
Dr. Tom Sherman, a member of NH House representing Rye and New Castle updated participants on the major health and human services policy issues being addressed this legislative session. As a health care provider, Dr. Sherman also shared his perspective on the role of research in the development of public policies that aim to improve the health and health care of NH citizens.
And Jan Nisbet, Senior Vice Provost for Research at UNH, provided an update on UNH research initiatives and opportunities as well as her perspective on the importance of interdisciplinary research in addressing complex health and human service issues.
As a result of this successful event, CHHS is planning future opportunities to foster collaborations throughout the College and beyond, by bringing together faculty and staff to share their research and learnings.
