Program Mission Statement
The Athletic Training Major at the University of New Hampshire aspires to be a program of recognized excellence guided by a threefold mission consistent with the overall mission of the University, which encompass the scholarly functions of teaching, research, and public service. It is our intention to support the program with human and financial resources necessary to achieve the stated goals. The primary recipients of this program are the students in the Athletic Training Major at the University of New Hampshire. The indirect recipients of this program are those professionals providing health care to, and individuals participating in, sport or physical activities at the University and the surrounding community.
The goals of the program are:
- Faculty and preceptors teaching in the Athletic Training Major will provide a high quality of instruction in the Athletic Training Education Competencies to all students.
- Students in the Athletic Training Major, under the instruction and supervision of preceptors, will have authentic, real-time opportunities to practice and integrate athletic training knowledge, skills, and abilities. This includes clinical decision-making, with the culminating goal being for each student to become an independent autonomous practitioner upon graduation.
- Program Administrators, Faculty, and Preceptors of the Athletic Training Major will continually monitor and assess the Goals of the Major to insure overall program effectiveness; and implement targeted action plans for continual program improvement.
