Master of Science Degree
The M.S. Kinesiology: Exercise Science program prepares students for careers in strength and conditioning, clinical exercise physiology, sport performance, environmental physiology, health promotion, sport and recreation industry, and for doctoral study in related fields. The program provides students with knowledge and skills in the assessment of aerobic and anaerobic capacity, body composition, hemodynamics, strength and power, electromyography, electrocardiography, pulmonary function, and biomechanics of human movement. Students gain experience conducting personal training in both healthy and clinical populations and work closely with faculty to conduct original research.
Admission is based on undergraduate preparation, academic record, Graduate Record Examination general test scores (current scores, within the last five years), and letters of recommendation. Applicants must be above-average students and show adequate preparation in the basic support courses of the selected concentration area. Applicants who have not met specific course prerequisites should expect to take additional undergraduate work without receiving graduate credit.
