Previous to my experiences here, I have worked as a counselor and interpreter in a camp and also as a "tour guide" for my American friends when I was in China. I had this intrinsic happy feeling by designing activities and doing them with campers, as well exchanging opinions with my American friends. From these experiences, I have realized that it is my dream to be a recreation professional, and the program at UNH is perfect for the profession.
My most memorable experiences in the University of New Hampshire Recreation Management and Policy Graduate program are each time that I meet with my advisor. I always get some cool ideas from him that teach me to look at questions from different angles. From my advisor, I have also learned many other skills, such as leading a conversation and presenting a speech. The things that I learn from him are always so valuable to me.
My plans for the future are to work as a recreation professional in the U.S. after I graduate and eventually be able to work as a bridge between China and America in the area of recreation.
I love the program at UNH because we have wonderful faculty members here and they are very caring, friendly, and supportive. I'm far away from home, but I feel like our department is my home here. Whenever I have questions about the lectures, research or my future career, the faculty in the department always answer my questions patiently and give me valuable advice! I've learned a lot from them.
People should be a part of the UNH RMP Grad Program for several reasons. First of all, we have great people working in our program. They are nice, helpful and fun! Second, the classes I have here help me a lot with my writing skills, which is usually hard for international students. Third, our program has helped me to think critically, forming ideas and working as a recreation professional, a skill that I haven’t really developed until I got here. The program fulfills all my needs and I'm sure that it would provide the needs of all graduate students.
