The College of Health and Human Services’ Center for Digital Health Innovation at the University of New Hampshire brings together faculty, staff, and students to explore and apply cutting-edge digital health technologies that enhance health and well-being across the lifespan. The Center serves as a hub that supports and coordinates research, practice, outreach, and teaching activities.

The Center for Digital Health Innovation is part of the Health Sciences Simulation Center, supporting applied research, training, and digital health innovation across the University of New Hampshire.

About Research

Mission & Vision

Mission

To promote digital health innovation, education, research, and development with an interprofessional approach to teaching, services, and community initiatives.

Vision

To foster exploration, innovation, and utilization of Center for Digital Health Innovation (CDHI) technologies to support health and wellbeing through increased access to care, education, and professional training.

What is Digital Health?

Digital health, as defined by the World Health Organization, refers to the use of information and communication technologies to support the delivery of care across health and health-related fields. Digital health spans tools such as electronic patient portals and extends to advanced technologies including virtual reality, wearables, robotics, artificial intelligence, and more.

About the Center

The Center for Digital Health Innovation is a central hub within the University of New Hampshire’s College of Health and Human Services, supporting faculty, students, and staff engaged in digital health teaching, research, service, and practice.

 

Training Opportunities 

Graduate and undergraduate students (For credit coursework) 

Courses such as Introduction to Telehealth (HHS 798/898), Practicum in Nutrition and Wellness (NUTR 758), Behavioral Nutrition and Counseling (NUTR 860) as well as other courses in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Occupational Therapy, and Marriage and Family allow students the opportunity to explore the Center for Digital Health Innovation space and apply their knowledge and skills to virtual models of care. 

HHS 798/898: Introduction to Telehealth 

This online, asynchronous elective course is taught by an interdisciplinary team and focuses on the ever-changing landscape of telehealth through the lens of various health disciplines. Students will explore topics such as the digital divide, telepresence, ethics, telehealth technology, and current practices in telehealth. In addition to completing weekly modules that span a variety of key telehealth topics, students will work collaboratively at a distance to create a multi-media project focused on a telehealth topic of interest. This course uses Open Educational Resources (OER). No textbook is required.
