Student Advising

The Program takes pride in its close relationship with its students and its alumni. The major is relatively small, generally graduating a class of around 40 students per year with students taking their junior and senior classes together in sequence. The Program affords close student/faculty interactions both in and out of the classroom. Faculty and majors get to know each other relatively quickly and frequently find themselves engaged in group projects and informal discussions on topics of common interest.

A faculty advisor is assigned to an HMP class (e.g, First-Year Students) and remains the advisor for that class until graduation. Therefore, faculty advisors get to know their students quite well over the years. Advisors assist students on a variety of academic matters, such as course selection, scheduling, fulfilling University and Program requirements, as well as provide career counseling and are available to discuss other concerns which students may have. Advisors are familiar with the wide variety of University resources for students.
