Krempels Center

Service to individuals and communities is integral to the teaching and research activities of our faculty and students. Service is the natural outgrowth of our belief that community is a central focus for the lives of people and a primary context in which the occupational therapy process takes place. Each year, dozens of schools, hospitals, community centers, and other settings enjoy access to the skill, energy, and knowledge our students bring to bear on what may well be their future work place.

New Life After Brain Injury

Since its founding in 2000, dozens of UNH occupational therapy majors and graduate students have participated as interns or fieldworkers in the Krempels Center program in Portsmouth, N.H. Krempels Center provides opportunities for social interaction, life skill training, recreation and support for people who have experienced severe brain trauma. Occupational therapy interns program members plan group activities that may range from movement and meal preparation, to computer skills and art expression.
