As part of the Centers Pre-service Teaching Mission, each year more than one hundred students enrolled in Human Development and Family Studies courses at UNH use the Center as a laboratory for experimental teaching and learning, and for documentation of those experiences. Students from other disciplines, including Education, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, and Communication Disorders, also use the Center as a laboratory for the study of children.
Student Employment
The Child Study and Development Center offers many opportunities throughout the year for students to work in our classrooms, the community garden, or the office using work study hours. Each semester there are close to 50 students earning wages at the center! We have a particularly strong need for work study students during the summer semester. CSDC also identifies students (most often from Human Development and Family Studies and Education) with demonstrated strengths in working with young children to be hourly substitute teachers on a regular basis.
