Each CSDC classroom reflects the developmental and cultural needs of the particular community of children, teachers, and families. Teaching teams create a physical space, curriculum, and schedule through careful observation of the individuals in their group, collaboration with families, and knowledge of best practice in early childhood education.
In particular, our classrooms have a strong focus on providing for open-ended play, relationship building and communication, exploration of diversity, and children’s in-depth inquiry into meaningful questions and interests. These long-term investigations or research projects are based on teachers’ documentation of children’s questions, experiences, and theories, along with knowledge of the learning community and child development. Specific information for each classroom, including family information packets, newsletters, and recent documentation, is available for you to view here.
