Nursing Major Internal Transfer Application
The nursing department welcomes applications for admission from current UNH who wish to transfer from other degree programs.
Application Process: To apply, students must complete and submit the Internal Transfer Application online, including the following materials in .doc or .pdf format
- UNH Grade Reports-Copies of all grade reports printed from Webcat and any applicable transfer credit grade reports or transcripts.
- Essay/Letter of Intent- A one- to two-page, double-spaced essay outlining your reasons for applying to the nursing program.
Application deadline: March 1 (or next business day). Please note that the former June 1st deadline has been eliminated.

Admission Details
Students are admitted into the nursing program at the sophomore level, beginning in the fall semester only. Admission is competitive, and we recommend a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
Prerequisite Requirements:
Applicants must have completed or be currently enrolled in all nursing prerequisite courses. Admission priority will be given to applicants with at least one final grade from Human Anatomy & Physiology. These prerequisites include:
- ENGL 401: First-Year Writing
- PSYC 401: Introduction to Psychology
- BMS 507: Human Anatomy & Physiology
- BMS 508: Human Anatomy & Physiology
All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or better prior to start of fall semester to maintain admission eligibility. Documentation of summer coursework must be submitted to the Department of Nursing prior to start of fall semester.
The following high school courses must be completed with a grade of C or better: Chemistry and Biology or Chemistry and Physics. If Chemistry was not taken in high school or if grade was less than C in high school, the student must successfully complete biochemistry or chemistry with a grade of C or better prior to the first clinical course, NURS 516, Health Assessment and Nursing Fundamentals. The Student Affairs Committee of the Undergraduate Nursing Program reviews all completed transfer applications. Decision letters are emailed to your UNH email address
External Transfer
We are unable to consider external transfer students to the nursing program.
