Dr. O'Brien

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Clinical Associate Professor Alyssa O’Brien, PhD, RN, as the Program Director for the Undergraduate Nursing Program in the Department of Nursing, effective May 20. Congratulations, Dr. O’Brien!

Dr. O’Brien has long been associated with the College of Health and Human Services; she received her BS and MS in Nursing here before earning her PhD in Nursing from the University of California, San Francisco. She worked in various academic roles in both teaching and research in two different California universities prior to returning to UNH as a full-time faculty member in 2016.

Dr. O’Brien is well-positioned to develop and support UNH undergraduate students’ success. Her teaching is exemplary, as evidenced by her 2023 CHHS Teaching Award and her 2020 New Hampshire MagazineExcellence in Nursing Award in the Nurse Educator and Nurse Researcher category. She has a deep commitment to advancing women’s health studies and has been instrumental in shaping the curriculum and developing innovative teaching methods that engage students in critical discussions and analysis of women's health issues.

We also wish to thank once again Dr. Patti Puccilli, DNP, RN, CNL, for her tireless work leading our undergraduate nursing program for the past 10 years.

Please reach out to us with any and all questions, and join us in welcoming Dr. O’Brien to her new role.

Regards,

Dr. Harkless, Dr. Board, and Dean Corazzini
