Internal Transfer Students - How to Apply

Are you a UNH undergraduate student?

Undergraduate students at UNH who have not declared a major or wish to transfer into HDFS from another UNH bachelor's degree program should apply directly through the HDFS Department.

Students who wish to apply to the B.S program should complete the application form by October 1st for Fall semester and March 1st for Spring semester.

HDFS Undergraduate Options:

Human Development and Family Studies has three undergraduate options to choose from: 

  • Child Development: provides specialized knowledge on the development of infants and children, preparing professionals to work in a variety of careers centered on enhancing child well-being.
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) Teacher Licensure: focuses on young children’s early learning and teaching strategies to support such learning. This option is approved by the NH State Department of Education with successful completion leading to eligibility for licensure as an early childhood educator (birth - 3rd grade) in the State of NH. 
  • Family and Lifespan Development: emphasizes the quality, and impact of, relationships across the lifespan and individual growth and well-being, preparing professionals to work in a variety of careers that focus on supporting couples, families, or individuals at any age. 

HDFS options

Human Development and Family Studies Major (B.S.)

Students enrolled at the Thompson School of Applied Science (or in any other associate degree program) should apply through the Office of Admissions.

Are you an external undergraduate student transferring to UNH?

Undergraduate students enrolled at institutions other than UNH should apply for transfer admission through the Office of Admissions.
