Kim: I have been working at UNH as a researcher and scholar for 10 years; this is my 10th year at UNH, and I have published more than 40 articles, mostly about the aging in place and trajectories of health and physical and mental health.
UNH is an R1 school. That that means research is really important and we have good balance between the teaching and research.
Students are really critical part of my research team so they are involved in each stage of my research process.
First, literature review, so they are helping me to find a good literature to know what we already know and what the gaps knowledge are.
Second, they are helping me to collect the data I need their help to develop the survey questions or interview questions and they can also help me to conduct a survey within the specific resident settings. They also help me to do the interviews. They are helping me to create the tables and figures in my presentation of research outcomes.
They are my new energy and at the same time, I really want to grow future gerontologists and future geriatric social workers, so it it's really lovely to see how they grow professionally.
