Program and Event Management Option Accreditation

Our undergraduate option in Program and Event Management in the Department of Recreation Management and Policy is accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Parks, Recreation, Tourism, and Related Professions (COAPRT). COAPRT is, in turn accredited by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

Therapeutic Recreation Option Accreditation

The Therapeutic Recreation Option in RMP has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs-Committee on Accreditation of Recreational Therapy Education (CAAHEP-CARTE) since January of 2015. We view this accreditation as an excellent mechanism for ensuring our students graduate with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for 21st century health care practice.

Student Outcomes: We offer the following metrics for your consideration of the professional preparedness of UNH RMP TR Option students:

Internship Performance Evaluation AY 2018-19: Of the 27 TR Option students completing their capstone internship experience, 96.1% of students were rated by their clinical internship supervisors as having either met or exceeded expectations for performance on all required competencies. Competency ratings are based upon CARTE-specified knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as the American Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) Standards for the Practice of Recreational Therapy.
National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) Exam Pass Rate: For the testing period covering July 2016 through November 2018, first-time test candidates from UNH achieved a pass rate of 96.6% in comparison to the national pass rate of 87.2% during the same testing period.

Outdoor Leadership and Management Option Accrediation

The Association for Experiential Education accredits a wide variety of adventure programs and organizations, including wilderness adventure programs, colleges and university outdoor programs, K-12 school programs, outdoor behavioral healthcare, youth programs, and corporate team building and training programs. Programs that meet the AEE Accreditation meet or exceeds industry standards. Accredited organizations participate in continual learning and growth helping them evolve many areas of their organization. AEE works continuously with experts in adventure programming and outdoor behavioral healthcare to set the standards for risk management, safety, program success, and sound practices. The University of New Hampshire was the first college outdoor program to receive AEE accreditation. More information about AEE accreditation can be found on their webiste.

University Accreditation

The University of New Hampshire is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) which in turn is accredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE).

Important Information Regarding Degree Mills

CHEA requires accredited institutions to inform the public about “degree and accreditation mills.” Please watch this important video regarding degree and accreditation mills. According to CHEA, "Degree mills and accreditation mills mislead and harm. In the United States, degrees and certificates from mills may not be acknowledged by other institutions when students seek to transfer or go to graduate school. Employers may not acknowledge degrees and certificates from degree mills when providing tuition assistance for continuing education. “Accreditation” from an accreditation mill can mislead students and the public about the quality of an institution. In the presence of degree mills and accreditation mills, students may spend a good deal of money and receive neither an education nor a useable credential."
