WHAT IS SPORT MANAGEMENT?

Minoring in sport management at UNH will prepare you for work in the sport industry through broad classwork related to the business of sport. The flexible curriculum will offer all students the basics of the sport management and marketing realm, while allowing flexibility to focus on specific sport management areas. The minor should aid students’ preparation for careers in sport marketing, event management, sport sales or sport finance.

WHY STUDY SPORT MANAGEMENT AT UNH?

As a sport management minor at UNH, you’ll be exposed to the primary functions of sport management while being allowed to choose courses that fit your specific career goals. Careers in the business of sport are increasing rapidly, making a sport management background incredibly valuable. Students across UNH may benefit from completing this minor; most specifically students majoring in areas of business and communications may find this minor to be a great addition if they wish to work in the sport industry.

Curriculum & Requirements

The Sport Management minor offers an opportunity for students outside of the major to strategically take classes in our SML curriculum, specifically designed to provide students with the basic knowledge of sport management. The minor consists of two required Sport Management courses and then a variety of options across our SML curriculum and within Paul College.

Admission into the minor is based on successful completion of SML 580 Sport Industry and a minimum GPA of 2.0. Please contact sophia.min@unh.edu for additional information.  

  • To graduate with a sport management minor, individuals must earn a grade of C- or better in all courses associated with the minor.
  • Sport Management and Leadership/Sport Studies majors are not permitted to minor in sport management.

SML 580 Sport Industry should be the first class students take in this minor. Additionally, enrolling in this class is when a student fills out the intent to minor form.
