CHHS Alumna Carol Shea-Porter Honored with Charles Holmes Pettee Medal

Carol Shea-Porter ’75, ’79G, former Congresswoman and tireless advocate for the Granite State, was recently awarded the Charles Holmes Pettee Medal.
The Pettee Medal is one of University of New Hampshire’s most prestigious honors, recognizing individuals with a devotion to service that transcends the ordinary.
Shea-Porter made history as the first woman elected to federal office from New Hampshire, serving three terms in Congress. Throughout her career, she championed issues close to her heart, including veterans’ support, healthcare access, and environmental protection. Notably, she proudly led her first campaign entirely with volunteers and never accepted corporate PAC money.
Shea-Porter earned a social work degree from the UNH College of Health and Human Services before earning a master’s in public administration.
