Emily Lusenhop
Emily Lusenhop, MSW, is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the University of New Hampshire’s Department of Social Work. An educator and seasoned clinical social worker, their expertise lies in clinical practice focused on the impacts of trauma on youth, adolescents, and families, particularly LGBTQIA2S+ individuals and families. Their teaching and clinical practice methods are grounded in anti-oppressive practices, psychodynamic theory, trauma-informed models of care, evidence-based practices, as well as diverse feminist and queer theories. Their social justice work is firmly rooted in queer and LGBTQIA+ communities.
In 2026, Emily received the The Kidder Award, which recognizes a faculty member who, through scholarship, leadership, or outstanding efforts, fosters greater understanding of equity and inclusion for the UNH LGBTQ+ community. In addition to teaching, mentoring students, and serving as a BSW Internship Liaison, Emily serves as a Board Member for the UNH LGBTQIA+ Alumni Affinity Group Board of Directors, is a member of the New Hampshire Queer Consortium (NHQC), and is actively involved in the UNH Department of Social Work’s Committee on Ethnicity, Race, and Gender Equity (CERGE). Emily also served on the 2026 UNH MLK Day of Service Advisory and Planning Committee, they organize and facilitate the annual LGBTQ+ Pride and Allyship event during UNH Pride Month, and Emily volunteers with NH Outright, representing the organization at statewide events while fostering understanding, empathy, and inclusion for LGBTQ+ youth and families.
