ACE Peer Mentors play a crucial role in the success of our first-year CHHS students. The ACE program aims to create a community where CHHS students feel connected, supported, and empowered to excel academically and professionally, fostering campus pride and promoting success through mentorship while offering resources for both curricular and co-curricular achievement. 


Overview

  • Serve as an ACE Seminar Assistant for a 15-week class in the fall and assist with spring seminar, as needed.
  • Work closely with and lead activities for assigned mentee group through the academic year.
  • Attend ACE Peer Leadership class to develop mentor skill set, prepare for seminar, and discuss any student concerns. 
  • Build connections with their mentees and connect them to university supports/resources, as needed. 

Roles, functions, & responsibilities

  • Attend weekly seminars and lead small group discussions with their mentees.  
  • Facilitate presentations in the fall seminar on registration, campus resources, and more.
  • Communicate needs and interests of mentees to ACE staff to assist in overall ACE program development and scope.  
  • Answer questions about their majors and assist mentees in learning more about their chosen fields or career opportunities on campus.  
  • Attend CHHS Orientation sessions and events, as needed.
  • Participate in ACE Mentor training opportunities.
  • Serve as a role model in all areas of student life at UNH. 

Required skills include strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude and enthusiasm about CHHS and UNH, interest in helping fellow students, ability to multi-task and handle unexpected situations with grace and maturity, and interest and ability to work in a team environment.
