Alison Mehlman

Alison joins IHPP as a Senior Associate in the Health Law and Policy group. She has 25 years of experience in public health and health policy, including more than 20 years in a variety of roles at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH). Alison began her career working on HIV/AIDS policy and advocacy, focusing on community services, legal services, confidentiality, syringe access and housing. She later served as Senior Deputy General Counsel at MDPH providing guidance to programs on issues related to infectious disease management, substance addiction services, maternal and child health and medical use of marijuana.

In addition to holding several leadership positions at MDPH, Alison served as Chief Deputy General Counsel for Healthcare Licensure, and most recently was a consultant to the Network for Public Health Law. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School.
