The Department of Nursing is pleased to offer the 2021-2022 Healthcare Innovation & Leadership Colloquium. This colloquium is a series of presentations that will feature key nursing and healthcare leaders. These healthcare leaders will be sharing their thoughts on health care today and the role nursing plays in the future transformation of healthcare.

Reflections on the Essentials of Nursing Practice

Keynote Speaker: Gene Harkless, DNSc, APRN, FNP-BC, CNL, FAANP
Associate Professor and Chair, Department of Nursing, University of New Hampshire (USA)

Dr. Gene Harkless, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Nursing at the University of New Hampshire, has taught and led program development there for 32 years. An FNP since 1980, she provides care at Families First Community Health Center. Her scholarship includes work on decision-making, international health, quality improvement, and frail elders. Her past sabbaticals have been funded by the Fulbright programs in Norway, India, and Indonesia. Gene served on the NONPF Board from 2007-2009 and has held positions on the New Hampshire Nurse Practitioner Association Board since 2007, including that of president from 2010-2014, and has served on the AANP Research Committee. She was appointed to the NH Board of Nursing in 2019, where she continues to serve.
