Karen Collins, Ph.D.

Associate Professor Karen Collins, Ph.D., has been appointed Director of Faculty Development for the College of Health and Human Services, effective August 12. While serving in this new role she will remain an active member of the faculty in the Department of Kinesiology, and will continue to teach in the Sport Management & Leadership program.

The intent of the Director of Faculty Development position is to advance the academic and professional growth of our regular-rank faculty, including tenure-track, lecturer, clinical, and research faculty through supporting and nurturing faculty excellence. A 2023 recipient of the Jean C. Brierley Award for Excellence in College Teaching, Dr. Collins is well prepared to do so thanks to her experience as Chair of the Department of Kinesiology and as the inaugural Faculty Fellow for CEITL, as well as her research interests in the areas of sports coach education and development, coach and athlete leadership development, and values-based coaching philosophy.

Dr. Collins received her A.B. in Sociology from Princeton University, her M.S. in Kinesiology here at UNH, and her Ph.D. in Kinesiology & Exercise Science, with a concentration in Sport and Exercise psychology at UNC-Greensboro.
