Rhonda Board, PhD, RN, serves as Interim Director of UNH’s School of Nursing, and has guided its strategic evolution into an independent school. Appointed in January 2023, she brings more than two decades of senior academic leadership experience, including serving as Interim Dean and PhD Program Director at Northeastern University’s Bouvé College School of Nursing. Her leadership at UNH has resulted in significant process improvements and organizational progress across UNH Nursing.

Prior to transitioning fully to administration, Dr. Board had a distinguished academic and clinical career focused on pediatric critical care. Her research explored the stress experienced by critically ill children and their families, and she received funding from organizations such as the National Institutes of Health, American Nurses Foundation, and American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She has published in leading journals including Heart & Lung, American Journal of Critical Care, and Journal of Pediatric Nursing, and continues to serve on editorial boards.

A pediatric critical care nurse for more thabn 30 years, Dr. Board’s clinical insight has long informed her teaching, research, and leadership. Her work continues to be shaped by a deep commitment to supporting families facing extraordinary challenges with resilience and compassion.
