Meet an ACE Mentor
ACE Mentors

Name: Anthony Geromini
Hometown: Shrewsbury, MA
Major: Kinesiology: Sport Studies Minor: Business
Graduation Year: 2019

Why be an ACE Mentor? What attracted you towards the position?
I wanted to be an ACE Mentor because it is an incredible opportunity for me to provide confused, anxious individuals with the clarity and comfort that I desperately needed when I was in their shoes my freshman year. I wanted to be able to provide them with personal advice and experience that helped me get through the dramatic change in my life when going from high school to college. I also wanted to be able to represent the College of Health and Human Services on a larger level; currently I am only able to help my major, Kin: Sport Studies, on a smaller level such as accepted student’s days and orientation days. Lastly, the reason I became a sport studies major is because I can find a career through it where I can take a sport program or organization and make it as successful as possible and to help it grow significantly. This ACE mentor program is that ideal in a nutshell but for the CHHS, and I want nothing more than to be a part of it and do whatever I can to help this program grow and become more successful than it already is.

Looking back on your time at UNH so far, what are you most proud of and why?
Throughout my four years here at UNH, I am most proud of the fact that I have continuously built my resume to the point that it is significantly challenging for me to fit everything on one page. I came in to UNH with one item on my resume, and now I have several that are specific to my interest and the sport industry, which is something I am proud of. These experiences have ultimately provided me with incredible, positive relationships with individuals that will help further down the line in my career. These experiences have also built up my character and essentially created the personality that I have today, which is one that I am proud of.

Let's talk favorites: do you have a favorite course and/or professor? Why is the course or faculty person so great?
One of my favorite courses that I have taken here at UNH was my social issues in contemporary sports course with Dr. Collins. She is also one of my favorite professors here at the university. Her teaching style is one that I will never forget. I learned the material in her classes because she taught it in a fun, engaging way. This course was my favorite because it discussed sensitive topics in the sport world that are major issues and will affect me once I get out into the real work world. I also had the opportunity to research a topic of my choice that I was passionate about and presented it in a round-robin conversation style presentation, which helped me retain the information a lot better.

What motivates you?
I am motivated primarilyby the goal I set for myself to achieve my freshman year here at UNH: to become a 40 under 40 winner within the sport industry. This goal helps fuel my passion to be successful within the sport world and achieve success that many people believe I will not obtain.

How is your experience at UNH preparing you to achieve your goals?
UNH has provided me with a significant network of individuals that are happy to help me out whenever I need it and prioritize time to help me succeed in certain areas. I have received a significant amount of professional experience from my internship opportunities I have had here at the university that have ultimately prepared me for the real world and life after my undergrad.

What are you planning to do after graduation?
After graduation, I plan on attending graduate school for my MBA, or a Master’s in Business Administration. I am currently studying for my GMAT exam and once taken, I will be applying to MBA programs throughout the northeast and further.

What do you love about UNH?
I love the friendly environment that makes a big school seem like a small school, along with the beauty of the campus itself. It is a school that I love and am proud to be a student and soon alumni of, and I will never forget the experiences UNH has provided for me.
