Looking back on your time at UNH so far, what are you most proud of and why?

I am most proud about how far I have come as an individual. Not only have I found an area of interest that I am passionate about, my grades have reflected it as well. Looking back to freshman year, I would have never imagined what I would be doing senior year- and how successful I would be.

What motivates you?

Looking at how far I have come over the past four years has motivated me. Reflecting on the journey so far has inspired me to achieve even more. The healthcare system in the US needs major improvements and I am hoping to be a part of the change. Whether administratively or clinically, I hope to create a better future for it as everyone deserves access to a high standard of healthcare.

Why did you choose your major?

I chose HMP as I have always been interested in healthcare. It is a fascinating field and is constantly changing. Although I went into HMP with administrative interests, I have become more interested in the clinical side. I am glad that when I do go clinical, I will have knowledge of management, public health and policy (to name a few). I was also attracted to HMP for the small class sizes and individuality. In HMP, you are required to complete an internship in the summer between junior and senior year. Our professors help us through networking events and resume and cover letter workshops. After completing the internship, we have a post-practicum seminar to debrief on what went well and what we learned during the summer. It is interesting to hear about everyone's experiences and interests as it benefits the whole class.

What are you planning to do after graduation?

I am planning on taking a year or two to gain patient care experience and to finish my prerequisite courses. Once complete, I will be applying to Physician Assistant programs.

How is your experience at UNH preparing you to achieve your goals?

UNH has given me the opportunities and resources to explore and reach my goals. Between many clubs, organizations, and career fair opportunities, there is something for everyone. I came in undecided, with no idea what I wanted to do. UNH is great as it offers many major and minor options, and encourages students to branch out.

Any advice for students interested in your major?

HMP will always have a special place in my heart and I am so thankful that I found it. After graduation, I know I will still be able to connect with my advisor and professors with open arms. It has been great to be a part of a small class and to know all of my professors. I am not just a number and I believe that has especially helped in doing well academically. My professors care about each and every one of us and will do whatever they can to help us succeed.

Finally, tell us one reason you love UNH.

I love UNH as it feels like a large school socially, but a small school academically. I am a member of the Pre-PA club and of the Student Organization for Healthcare Leadership, both which are preparing me for the future and helping to grow my network. I am also a Dean's ambassador, a really rewarding experience, helping prospective students by sharing all that the College of Health and Human Services has to offer.
