Dr. Greg Spicer, a local NH native, developed his background in exercise science through a combination of academic, research and clinical experiences. He is motivated to improve student, athlete, and patient quality of life through the education of exercise physiology. He believes increasing awareness of the acute responses and chronic adaptations to exercise is an important strategy for improving exercise adherence. During his graduate work, Dr. Spicer studied the acute effects of exercise on parameters of cardiovascular and neurological function, focusing on arterial stiffness and brain-derived neurotrophic factor. He has extensive clinical and research experience working with patients with cardiovascular, metabolic, and renal diseases. As a clinical faculty member at UNH, Dr. Spicer directs the Employee Fitness Program, where UNH employees receive individualized exercise prescription from his senior students enrolled in EXSC 736 - Fitness & Graded Exercise Testing, and 737 - Exercise Prescription & Leadership.
